The rules are simple: write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 24 hours! The contest is open to W&M students and alumni, pros and amateurs alike, and is a chance to show your filmmaking chops on the big screen.

24 Speed | Competition

The 14th Annual 24 Speed Filmmaking Competition kicks off on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 5:30pm. Student teams are expected to show up in person at the Ford Classroom at the Reeder Media Center (located on the ground floor of Swem Library), whereas alumni teams can tune in via live Google Hangout. At the kickoff ceremony, each team will be given a prop and line of dialogue that must be used in their film, as well as a genre for their film.

Registration for 24 Speed 2019 ends Monday, January 21st, 2019 at 5pm! 
NOTE: ONE REGISTRATION PER TEAM - ONLY ONE MEMBER NEEDS TO REGISTER ON BEHALF OF TEAM!

Filmmaking equipment can be checked out from the Reeder Media Center right before the competition. Equipment requests are first come, first serve. We are offering 24 Speed sessions/workshops to help prepare those who are first-timers, want to learn about the equipment, tips + tricks for production setups and how to successfully accomplish 24 Speed, or want a refresher on video production and/or editing.
