24 Speed Filmmaking Competition | 2020 Kick-Off! In-Person

The rules are simple: write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 24 hours! The contest is open to W&M students and alumni, pros and amateurs alike, and is a chance to show your filmmaking chops on the big screen.

24 Speed | Competition

The 16th Annual 24 Speed Filmmaking Competition kicks off on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 5:30pm. Student teams are expected to show up in person at the Ford Classroom at the Reeder Media Center (located on the ground floor of Swem Library), whereas alumni teams can tune in via live ZOOM.  At the kickoff ceremony, each team will be given a prop and line of dialogue that must be used in their film, as well as a genre for their film.

Registration for 24 Speed 2020 ends THURSDAY, January 23RD, 2020 at 5pm! 
NOTE: ONE REGISTRATION PER TEAM - ONLY ONE MEMBER NEEDS TO REGISTER ON BEHALF OF TEAM!


Filmmaking equipment can be checked out from the Reeder Media Center right before the competition. Equipment requests are first come, first serve. We are offering 24 Speed consulations to help prepare those who are first-timers, want to learn about the equipment, tips + tricks for production setups and how to successfully accomplish 24 Speed, or want a refresher on video production and/or editing.
